About Jongmi Bae

I'm Jongmi Bae — most people call me Jamie. I'm a product designer and business owner living in Santa Clara, California.

My path into design started in fine art. I earned my BFA in Visual Communication Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a Merit Scholarship recipient, then an MFA in 2D Design at Cranbrook Academy of Art, where my work was exhibited in the Mercedes-Benz Selection and galleries around Detroit. Years of studio practice taught me patience: to listen, empathize, synthesize, and iterate until the work is right.

Wanting to bring that craft to interactive experiences, I completed a Master of Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University, where I designed multiplayer AR experiences, educational apps for school districts, and a gamified cybersecurity competition — and served as a graduate teaching assistant.

Professionally, I've been the lead product designer at SPODIO Group, designing an end-to-end digital sports betting experience, and worked on UX/UI at Treatspace, AxleHire, and Interactivism, with earlier creative work at Weber Shandwick in Seoul for clients like Philips, Tetra Pak, and Samsung Pay.

Today I run JTL Hub, my own e-commerce business — importing goods and selling online. Being both the designer and the owner means every decision, from brand to checkout, is mine to craft and mine to answer for. I love it.

Outside of work I explore new cuisines, watch films, and read about design and technology.
